Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took their children, Prince Archie, aged seven, and Princess Lilibet, aged five, to a private Scottish island during their latest UK visit, Hello! magazine reported on 31 July 2026.

The family stayed on Tanera Mor, the largest of the Summer Isles, a cluster of islands off the northwest coast of Scotland — roughly 150 miles from King Charles's private residence at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire. Harry has previously nicknamed the island his "secret paradise," according to The Sun The Sun. The trip fell during the children's summer holidays.

Tanera Mor was bought in 2017 by billionaire Ian Wace, co-founder of the hedge fund Marshall Wace, for £1.7 million. At the time, the island had a population of just five. Wace has since invested approximately £100 million into transforming the estate, planting over 100,000 trees and renovating a dozen derelict cottages Hello!. The island is also said to have inspired the 1973 horror film The Wicker Man.

The connection between the two families runs through Wace's wife, Saffron Aldridge, a former model aged 57, who is believed to have befriended Meghan when she first moved to the UK. A year after their 2018 wedding, Harry and Meghan attended a Cirque du Soleil performance at the Royal Albert Hall alongside Wace and Aldridge.

Tanera Mor now hosts guests through the Taigh Mor Foundation, a charity promoting mental fitness and supporting armed forces members. More than 1,000 guests from the foundation visited the island in the year before the Hello! report.

The Scottish holiday formed part of a broader UK visit during which Harry participated in engagements marking the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham. Harry and Meghan also brought Archie and Lilibet to see King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove, the King's private residence in Gloucestershire. Hello! reported that the visit was the first time King Charles had seen Archie and Lilibet face-to-face since the Platinum Jubilee.

Harry has not yet taken the children to Balmoral, the royal family's private estate in Aberdeenshire, GB News reported GB News. The Express placed the Tanera Mor stay "earlier this month" relative to its 31 July publication Express.
