Paul Kelly will play a one-night-only show at the Potts Point Hotel in Sydney's Kings Cross on 30 August, returning to a neighbourhood he played repeatedly in the mid-to-late 1980s at the now-closed Manzil Room, which sat in the laneway beside the same building Billboard.

Two days before the show, on 28 August, Kelly releases a deluxe edition of his 2025 album Seventy — his 30th studio recording, which debuted at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Australia's national album chart Billboard. The expanded set includes a brand-new single called "Stardust" along with additional photographs and new liner notes written by Kelly himself Rolling Stone Australia; Noise11.

Fans can secure a spot at the hotel gig by either pre-ordering the deluxe edition through Kelly's official store or entering a ballot for tickets Billboard. Kelly's website landing page is currently directing visitors to both options paulkelly.com.au. In an Instagram reel, Kelly said he plans to play songs old and new at the show Paul Kelly, Instagram.

The Potts Point Hotel already carries Kelly's likeness: a mural by artist Scottie Marsh adorns the building's exterior wall Billboard. The venue's proximity to the old Manzil Room site gives the booking a circular quality — Kelly returns to roughly the same strip where he was a regular fixture four decades ago.

The Kings Cross date is part of a broader anniversary moment for the singer-songwriter. Kelly is also marking the 40th anniversary of his 1986 double album Gossip with a 2LP reissue Billboard. Gossip arrived the same year Kelly began gigging around Kings Cross, making the reissue and the hotel show overlapping nods to the same mid-1980s stretch.
