Garena has announced Palworld Online, an officially licensed mobile MMORPG spinoff of the breakout survival game Palworld, for iOS and Android. The announcement came on August 2, 2026, with Garena — a Singapore-based publisher known for mobile titles including Free Fire — handling development under licence from Palword's creator, Pocketpair.

The game is described as a reimagining of the original Palworld, where players collect, train and deploy creatures called Pals in an open-world setting. Palworld Online takes that concept and rebuilds it as a shared online experience: multiple players exploring the same seamless world together, rather than the instance-based co-op of the original. It will feature cooperative progression, player-versus-environment combat, player-versus-player battles, and roaming world bosses that players can team up to take down.

A new narrative setting, distinct from the original game's, is being introduced for the spinoff. No PC or console version was mentioned in the announcement, making this a mobile-only project — a notable shift for a franchise that built its audience on PC and Xbox.

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe pointed to Garena's track record in global publishing, localisation and live operations for mobile games as the reason for the partnership, adding that Garena is handling the licensed development of the title. Garena president Terry Zhao said the two companies are working closely to "preserve the depth, immersion, and freedom that define Palworld" while optimising the experience for mobile play, according to the official Garena announcement.

The trademark groundwork was laid months earlier. Pocketpair filed for a "Palworld Online" trademark — including a logo — in the United States and South Korea in May 2026, as reported by Gematsu. That filing signalled the spinoff was in the works well before the public reveal.

Palworld Online is targeting a launch later in 2026, though Eurogamer reports that the initial release may take the form of a beta rather than a full launch — a common approach for online games that need stress-testing across regions and devices before going wide.

For players who found Palworld through its creature-collecting loop and base-building sandbox, the mobile spinoff promises to carry those mechanics into a persistent world where other players are part of the landscape rather than visitors. Whether the depth of the original — a game that mixed farming, factory automation and survival crafting alongside its creature collection — survives the transition to touch-screen controls and a live-service structure is the open question. Garena and Pocketpair are betting it can.

No price model has been detailed yet. Given Garena's history with free-to-play mobile titles, the monetisation approach will be one to watch as the beta draws closer.
