Prince Edward delivered the closing remarks as the 2026 Commonwealth Games wrapped up on Sunday, August 2, at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, bringing an end to 11 days of competition among athletes from more than 70 nations and territories once tied to the British Empire.

Edward, who has served as Vice-Patron of the Commonwealth Games Federation since 1990 and has attended every Games since Edinburgh hosted in 1986, was a fixture throughout the event. He accompanied Princess Anne to watch hurdles, triple jump, and decathlon earlier in the week, and joined the Prince and Princess of Wales to watch cycling with his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
