Amazon has handed a full series order to "DINKS," an improvised multi-camera sitcom starring June Diane Raphael and Paul Scheer, more than two years after the pilot was first ordered. The greenlight moves the project from pilot stage — a single test episode — to a full series commitment. Deadline

"DINKS" (short for Dual Income No Kids) follows Josh, played by Scheer, and Charlie, played by Raphael, a couple who decide to build a life together by renovating their dream house. The series is improvised, meaning the cast builds scenes from an outline rather than a word-for-word script — a format both Raphael and Scheer are steeped in from their improv backgrounds. The series comes from Marta Kauffman, the co-creator of "Friends," who co-created "DINKS" with Hannah K.S. Canter. Kauffman produces through her banner Okay Goodnight, alongside Lionsgate Television and Amazon MGM Studios. Kauffman, Canter, Robbie Rowe Tollin and Jesse Schiller serve as executive producers, with Raphael and Scheer also credited as EPs.

The deal structure behind "DINKS" is unusual. The series comes out of a partnership between Lionsgate and Publicis Media Content Innovation, the entertainment arm of the advertising agency Publicis. That means an ad agency is involved at the production level — not just buying commercial time, but helping bring the show into existence.

This is not the first life for the concept. A previous version, then titled "A Lot," was set up at CBS in 2023 with the same creative team, including Raphael, Scheer, Kauffman and Lionsgate. That version produced a presentation — a short proof-of-concept piece, lighter than a full pilot — but did not move forward at the network. For Raphael and Scheer — who are married in real life and frequent collaborators across podcasting, television and film — "DINKS" marks a return to multi-camera comedy, a format built around live-audience energy and three or four cameras rolling simultaneously. The improv approach adds another layer: scenes can change shape on the floor from take to take.
