Stella Lefty's "Boston" is spending a second week in the Billboard Hot 100's top five, holding at No. 5 on the chart dated August 8 after peaking at No. 3 the week prior — and it has now surpassed Dave Loggins' 1974 ballad "Please Come to Boston" as the highest-charting song to name the city in its title. The single, released on Sandlot/Atlantic Outpost/Atlantic, opens with the line "On a train back to Boston" and interpolates Noah Kahan's 2024 Hot 100 top 10 "Stick Season," which gives Kahan a songwriting credit. In its chart week, "Boston" drew 16.1 million streams, 28.6 million in radio reach (up 18% week over week) and 3,000 in sales (up 8%), according to data tracker Luminate. Radio reach measures the cumulative audience hearing a song on air. The track also climbed to new bests across Billboard's airplay charts: No. 7 on Country Airplay, No. 23 on Adult Pop Airplay and No. 27 on Pop Airplay. Internationally, it reached No. 22 on the Billboard Global 200 and was still climbing the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. It hit No. 10 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, its first top 10 there after 13 weeks on that chart. Billboard Canada

The city name is doing genuine work at radio. Per Mediabase data for the July 24–30 tracking week, "Boston" ranked among the most-played songs in each of America's top 10 Nielsen Audio markets — first in Boston with 195 plays, sixth in Houston with 184, and as far down as 206th in Los Angeles with 34. In New York, it registered zero plays.

Boston's 195 spins were split across country stations WBWL (101.7 The Bull, 70 plays) and WKLB (Country 102.5, 64), plus pop station WXKS (Kiss 108, 34) and adult-pop WBMX (Mix 104.1, 27). Mike Mullaney, assistant program director and music director at WBMX, told Billboard the song was "a legitimate hit" and that radio was playing it because it mentions Boston. Dylan Sprague, program director of the iHeartMedia-owned WBWL and WXKS, said the city connection "accelerated familiarity" but that play was ultimately driven by the song's quality. He described it as a great country song that many liken to a Noah Kahan folky number — a different blend of country for the Northeast. Billboard

The streaming picture is just as strong. "Boston" surged to No. 2 on both the Billboard Streaming Songs and Country Streaming Songs charts, new career highs. Forbes

The momentum carries into live dates and a full release. Stella Lefty performed "Boston" at Lollapalooza on August 3, according to the festival's official TikTok account. Lollapalooza TikTok She announced her debut album, Long Way Home, will arrive August 21, 2026. Just Jared

The song's publishing is split across 13117 Music (ASCAP), Kobalt Songs Music (ASCAP) and Stella Lefty Music (ASCAP), per Billboard's Country Update. Billboard's Country Update for the airplay week ending April 23, 2026 had already flagged a week-over-week gain of +1,086 for the track in the Texas Regional Radio Report — an early signal of the Texas traction now visible in Mediabase's Houston and Dallas figures.

For a first single to sit in the Hot 100's top five, chart across four radio formats and pass a 52-year-old chart record in the same month is a fast rise by any measure. The album date gives it three more weeks of runway.
