The Toronto International Film Festival has revealed its 2026 Centrepiece lineup — 54 features representing 50 countries, with 10 world premieres among them. The announcement landed on August 4, 2026, ahead of the festival's 51st edition, which runs September 10 to 20. Deadline

Centrepiece is TIFF's broad showcase strand — the section where festival audiences catch new work from established names alongside titles already stirring conversation from Cannes and Venice. This year's selection pulls from all three of those pipelines.

Among the world premieres, three carry particular weight on the marketplace. Indonesian director Kamila Andini returns to TIFF with Four Seasons in Java, a co-production spanning Indonesia, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Singapore. Andini won the festival's Platform Award in 2021 for Yuni. Her new film, starring Putri Marino, Arya Saloka, Christine Hakim and Hana Pitrashata Malasan, won the top Tokyo Gap-Financing Market award of $13,000 last October and is slated for a 2026 release. Israeli director Avi Nesher brings Our Lives, a drama centred on the October 7 attacks, as a world premiere. And Indian filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj's Dorothy, produced by Guneet Monga, also premieres. Deadline

The lineup's international premieres give North American audiences their first look at several Cannes breakouts. Camera d'Or winner Ben'Imana, from Rwandan director Marie-Clementine Dusabejambo, screens alongside The Dreamed Adventure by Germany's Valeska Grisebach, which took the Cannes Jury Prize, and La Gradiva by France's Marine Atlan, winner of the Cannes Critics' Week. From Venice, two titles cross over: Woman Unknown, a Golden Lion contender from Danish-Egyptian director May el-Toukhy, and Conversation With The Sea, a Venezia Spotlight selection from Palestinian filmmaker Muayad Alayan. Deadline

Animation gets its own slot within Centrepiece. Leah Nelson's Tangles makes its North American premiere, joined by Annecy winner The Violinist, Julián, and Viva Carmen. Deadline

For context, the 2025 Centrepiece programme featured 19 world premieres — a figure this year's 10 does not match, though the 50-country reach signals the same global ambition. The broader festival build has been under way for weeks: TIFF named Siân Heder's Being Heumann as its Opening Night film on July 7, announced Gala and Special Presentations on July 20, revealed its Platform jury expansion on July 21, and confirmed Primetime and Discovery lineups on July 23 and 22 respectively.
