A rock band that formed over a college jam session and a summer coffee-shop shift has reached No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart — and their debut album is already on the way.

Edgehill, a three-piece rock band from Nashville, consists of lead vocalist Chris Kelly (23), guitarist and vocalist Jake Zimmerman (26), and drummer Aidan Cunningham (26). Their grunge-influenced single "Doubletake" became the band's first Billboard chart entry and climbed to No. 1 on the Alternative Airplay chart in April 2026, according to a Billboard feature published on 4 August 2026. The follow-up single, "Love to Go," is now climbing that same chart. An alternative pop-leaning track, it was written early in the band's formation but sat unreleased for more than four years before coming out. As of the chart week of 8 August 2026, "Love to Go" had spent five weeks on the Alternative Airplay chart, reaching a peak position of No. 23, according to Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart. It also ranked No. 21 on Mediabase's building Alternative chart with 210 plays, per HITS Daily Double.

The band's origins trace back to 2021, when Kelly moved to Nashville to attend Vanderbilt University and met Zimmerman at a jam session that August. Two summers later, while working at a coffee shop during a break from Vanderbilt, Kelly met Cunningham. Edgehill self-released their first single, "Shooting Glances," in June 2022, before signing a record deal in May 2024 with Severance Records, a Nashville-based indie rock label operating as a joint venture with Big Loud under the Severance/Big Loud Rock banner. The band's debut album, Ode to the Greyhouse, is scheduled for release on 13 February 2026, according to the band's merchandise store. The nine-track album includes "Drone Song," "Doubletake," "lol," "Love To Go," "17 Hours," "Numb," "I Can Be Your Dog," "Ode to the Greyhouse," and "Innocent." The store lists a standard vinyl pressing, a vinyl-and-hoodie bundle, and a deluxe signed vinyl bundle.

For a band whose first chart entry only arrived in 2026, the pace is notable: a No. 1 single, a follow-up still rising, and a full album with vinyl configurations already on sale. The gap between writing "Love to Go" and releasing it — more than four years — is a reminder that the songs a band breaks through with are often the ones they have had the longest.
