Annabel Sutherland smashed a pull shot for six to seal a five-wicket win for Sunrisers Leeds over London Spirit in the women's Hundred at Headingley, chasing down 137 with two balls to spare. Sutherland the bowler did her bit in that collapse. She removed the dangerous Marizanne Kapp for 18, a wicket that shifted momentum firmly back to the home side. Spinner Hannah Baker and all-rounder Deepti Sharma took two wickets apiece, with Deepti conceding just 18 runs from her 20 balls — the most economical spell of the match.

Sunrisers Leeds, who won the toss and chose to field, then watched Phoebe Litchfield set the tone in reply. The Australian struck 30 from 17 balls to give the chase early legs. But the middle order stuttered. Three wickets fell for two runs in the space of six balls — a collapse of six legal deliveries that nearly handed Spirit a route back.

Sutherland and captain Dani Gibson steadied things with a fourth-wicket stand of 54. Gibson, signed for £190,000 at the 2026 Hundred auction, provided the platform. Sutherland, bought for £130,000 in the same auction, provided the finishing touch. When the equation tightened, Jonassen — a late-order finisher of long standing in the Australian set-up — cracked 13 from five balls to drag Sunrisers over the line.

For Leeds, the win lifts them to fourth in the table, still six points adrift of Manchester Super Giants in third. For London Spirit, it is one win in five and the playoffs now look a remote prospect.

Sutherland has been the constant through Leeds' campaign. She made 59 not out from 30 against Oval Invincibles earlier in the week and 35 from 24 in the loss to Manchester Super Giants. Against Spirit, with the game in the balance, she again found another gear.

What makes this chase stand out is how close it came to falling apart. Losing three for two in six balls is the kind of stumble that loses matches. That Leeds recovered speaks to the depth Sutherland and Jonassen brought to the lower middle order — and to a London Spirit side that could not sustain the pressure Harris had built at the top.
