Capcom's Resident Evil Veronica has surpassed two million wishlists across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Switch 2, the publisher announced on its official Resident Evil X account (Eurogamer).

That milestone comes less than two months after the game's reveal at Summer Game Fest in June 2025. For context, a wishlist on platforms like Steam or the PlayStation Store is a player tapping a button to say "I want this" — a signal publishers watch closely to gauge interest before launch.

Resident Evil Veronica is a remake of Code: Veronica, a title originally released in 2000 for Sega's Dreamcast console. Capcom said it dropped the word "Code" from the title to give the game a sharper, more direct name (Eurogamer). The story is also being tweaked to better fit within the broader Resident Evil narrative.

The remake is being built by core members of the development teams behind the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes — both critical and commercial successes that helped re-establish the franchise as a premium horror brand. Capcom has confirmed the game will use a third-person perspective, in line with those recent remakes rather than the first-person view of Resident Evil 7 and Village.

Capcom has not yet announced an exact release date. The publisher has only confirmed that the game is slated to launch within a 2027 release window (Gamereactor).

What makes the wishlist figure notable is how little Capcom has shown of the game so far. Beyond the initial reveal trailer and a handful of details, the publisher has kept specifics under wraps. Two million players signalling intent to buy a game they have mostly seen in teaser form is the kind of pre-launch momentum publishers plan marketing schedules around.

Resident Evil as a franchise has been one of Capcom's steadiest performers. The Resident Evil 4 remake, released in March 2023, passed five million units sold within its first year. Code: Veronica, the original game being remade, was long considered a fan favourite that had been skipped over in Capcom's recent remake programme — which makes this project one that the series' most dedicated players have been waiting for.
