timelesz's "Kienai Hanabi" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 on the chart released Aug. 5, 2026, giving the group its first chart-topper under the timelesz name. The track sold 424,416 copies in its first week to lead the sales component, while placing No. 3 for downloads and No. 15 for radio airplay, according to Billboard.

"Kienai Hanabi" is the title track of the second single released under timelesz's new lineup and serves as the theme song to the film Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to, in which member Shori Sato makes his animated feature film lead debut. The group's previous peak on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 was No. 2 with "Steal The Show."

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, video views and karaoke data. The chart dated Aug. 5, 2026 tallied the week from July 27 to Aug. 2.

Behind timelesz, ILLIT's "I Got Your Back (feat. JISOO, MOMOKA of HANA)" debuted at No. 2. The title track of the group's second Japanese single, it features HANA members JISOO and MOMOKA, who also contributed lyrics. It was digitally pre-released on July 26 with the CD following July 29, moving 85,475 copies — No. 5 for sales, No. 3 for radio, and No. 15 for video views.

ATEEZ's "BAD," the group's fifth Japanese single, surged 64-3 with 259,030 copies, placing No. 2 for sales and No. 22 for streaming. Mrs. GREEN APPLE's "Brand New" slipped 2-4 but led streaming for a second consecutive week with 7,510,396 weekly streams, while also topping radio.

The chart's middle reaches tell a wider story about Japanese pop's current reach. FRUITS ZIPPER member Yui Sakurai's solo major-label debut single "Natsu Izon" entered at No. 5 with 96,545 copies. OCTPATH's 10th single "Natsumeki" debuted at No. 6 with 90,719 copies. CLASS SEVEN's "I Know Hero" bowed at No. 7, powered by No. 2 on radio and No. 6 on sales. M!LK's "Sukisugite Metsu!" held at No. 8 in its 40th week on the chart, posting No. 2 across streaming, video, and karaoke simultaneously.

King Gnu's "GO GHOST," the opener to the TV anime THE GHOST IN THE SHELL, landed at No. 9 with 13,349 downloads, good for No. 2 on that component. M!LK's "Bakuhatsu Aishiteru / Sukisugite Metsu!" rounded out the top 10 in its 25th week.

What gives this chart week its texture is the sheer breadth of film and television tie-ins. Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island, released in theaters July 24, 2026, placed five tracks on the Hot 100: "Shima no Uta (Siren ver.)" at No. 50, "Tsukue Sasuru" at No. 54, opening theme "Kutsuzure" at No. 68, and two versions of "Usagi Rap" at No. 75 and No. 86. Those tracks also swept the downloads component from No. 6 through No. 9 — a signal of how tightly the film's audience moved on the songs after the theatrical release.

Further down, BE:FIRST's "BRUCE WAYNE feat. Flo Milli, ATL Jacob," released digitally July 31, topped the downloads component and entered the Hot 100 at No. 18. Gen Hoshino's "Suki," the theme song to the TBS drama Kimi no Suki wa Muteki, arrived at No. 19 with No. 4 on downloads.

Long-running holdovers included Sakanaction's "Yoru no Odoriko" at No. 11 in its 25th week, Kenshi Yonezu's "IRIS OUT / JANE DOE" at No. 13 in its 46th week, and Mrs. GREEN APPLE's "Aoi to Natsu" at No. 33 — in its 339th week on the chart.
