Real Madrid have agreed a club-record fee with RB Leipzig to sign 19-year-old Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, according to multiple reports published on 5–6 August 2026.

The BBC reported the fee as €120 million, while The Guardian put the figure at £115.7 million and The New York Times placed the deal at roughly €125 million plus a further €15 million in add-ons — a structure echoed by MARCA via The Straits Times, which cited up to €125 million with €10–15 million in extras. The variation reflects how transfer fees are typically reported: the headline number, the add-ons layered on top, and the currency conversion all shift depending on the outlet. Leipzig had been holding out for closer to €130 million, according to The New York Times. Al Jazeera reported that Real Madrid's opening salvo on 27 July came in around £102.5 million ($136.75m), meaning negotiations were pushed upward over the following ten days before the clubs found common ground.

Diomande scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions in his first full season in European football, per the BBC. He is comfortable on either wing and formed a particularly sharp partnership down the right flank with Leipzig full-back Ridle Baku — a combination that clearly caught Madrid's attention as they searched for greater consistency in that position.

What makes the move striking is how quickly it has all unfolded. Diomande made his professional debut on 29 March 2025, away at the Santiago Bernabéu — in other words, against Real Madrid themselves. Five months later he was a Leipzig player; sixteen months after that, he is set to become theirs.
