Dolly Parton will receive the Americana Music Association's lifetime achievement award at the 2026 Americana Honors & Awards, accepting via video during the ceremony at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on 16 September. Parton has won 10 Grammy awards and sent two songs to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — the weekly US singles chart that ranks the country's most-played and most-sold tracks. Those hits were "Islands In The Stream," her 1983 duet with Kenny Rogers, and "9 to 5." Two of her compositions, "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You," have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, which preserves recordings of lasting significance.

She holds membership in three halls of fame: the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Beyond music, her business and creative ventures include the Dollywood theme park in Tennessee, the Nashville Songteller Hotel, books, films and television. Her Imagination Library, launched in 1995, has distributed free books to children across the United States, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The 2026 Americana Honors & Awards ceremony will also recognise current artists across its competitive categories. Nominees for artist of the year are Margo Price, Brandi Carlile, Molly Tuttle, Charley Crockett and Jesse Welles. Price, Carlile, the trio I'm With Her, Ken Pomeroy and Mon Rovîa are among the top nominees for the evening.

Parton will not attend the Ryman ceremony in person. Her recorded acceptance will be screened during the event.
