Splatoon Raiders' First Update Fixes Its Most Confusing Menu — and a Handful of Bugs

Nintendo has shipped the first post-launch update for Splatoon Raiders, and it tackles the one menu option that had players so stumped the company's own support team had to explain it on social media.
Version 1.1.1, released on August 6, 2026, according to Nintendo's support page, changes how the Tank Limiter works. The Tank Limiter is a cap on the game's Skill Points system — the currency players earn by levelling up to upgrade their tanks — and it stops you from sinking too many points into a single trait early on. Releasing that limiter used to require holding the A button down, which ran against every other menu interaction in the game. Most options respond to a simple tap. Enough players hit the wall that Nintendo's Japanese customer support account posted on X telling them to hold the button. Now, after the patch, a normal press does the job. (VGC)
That interface fix is the headline, but the patch also addresses a spread of bugs across combat, exploration and minigames. Emergency Damage Up — a buff that boosts your damage output — was not applying to explosion damage dealt by the Splatchet's Explosive Steps ability. That is now corrected. In the Hideout Ship and dungeons, interface elements like the Showstopper Gauge were supposed to hide after a period of inactivity but were not doing so reliably; the update fixes that too.
A couple of fixes touch specific in-game locations and modes. A Fish Stick, a type of enemy, could clip into terrain in the Soyu Cliffs area and become impossible to defeat. In the Hopping minigame on the Arcade Cabinet, the Exploration Bot — an automated companion — could stop targeting Salmonids, the fish-like enemies that populate Splatoon's world. Both issues are resolved.
The patch also fixes a crash that could trigger when players tapped the Nintendo Switch 2 touchscreen on the fog-swirl screen that appears right after launching the game. For anyone who hit that crash on boot, the fix will be a relief.
Splatoon Raiders launched on July 23, 2026 as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive — an action-shooter set in the colourful Splatoon universe, where players customise tanks with loot and spend Skill Points to push their builds further. (Nintendo) The game had gone just over two weeks without a patch before version 1.1.1 arrived. The full patch notes were reported by Nintendo Life, Nintendo Everything, and My Nintendo News. For a game not even a month old, the update reads like a tidy first round of housekeeping — one menu quirk smoothed over, a handful of edge-case bugs closed, and a boot-screen crash put to rest. Nothing here changes how Splatoon Raiders plays at its core. But the Tank Limiter fix alone should spare new players a moment of genuine confusion, and that is the kind of small friction removal that early patches are made for.
