A young podcaster heads into serial-killer territory. Little Spark Films has wrapped production on Bridgette Wrona and the Whisper Creek Murders, a YA mystery that filmed in and around Arlington, Texas, according to Variety.

The film follows Bridgette Wrona, a 20-something sleuth who hosts a true crime podcast called Hot Coffee, Cold Cases. She is dispatched to the East Texas town of Whisper Creek, where a serial killer known as The Flower King has resurfaced. Mary Beth McAndrews directed from a script by Preston Fassel, based on a concept by Cameron Hazelwood, Variety reports.

Leading the cast is newcomer Amanda Huerta, who was discovered through Little Spark Films' own "48-Hour Spark" film race. Bridgette Wrona is her first feature film, and she plays the title role. The supporting cast includes Lisa Gaye, Kelli Maroney, Alexandra Broussard and Larissa Dali. For genre devotees, Kelli Maroney brings familiar credentials — her credits stretch back to 1980s cult favourites including Night of the Comet and Chopping Mall.

Behind the camera, Robert "Ghoulio" Alcala served as director of photography. Catalina Querida and Larissa Dali produced, with Joe Manco and Chris Rushing as executive producers and Fassel doubling as associate producer. The Texas Film Commission casting hotline had listed the project as a Little Spark Films production scheduled to begin shooting on July 5, 2026, across Dallas, Mansfield and Linden, Texas. A casting notice on Little Spark Films' Facebook page confirmed a July 2026 filming window.

The film is now in post-production. No release date, distributor or sales representation has been announced.

What gives the project its spark is the path from the casting call to a wrapped feature in roughly a month. Little Spark Films' "48-Hour Spark" race — a rapid-fire filmmaking competition — turned up Huerta, who now carries a lead role in a feature with a named ensemble and festival-circuit genre veterans. For a micro-budget mystery, that is a fast chain from open casting call to camera-ready.
