Hearts Sell Kyziridis to Turkish Club for £1.7m After One Season at Tynecastle
Heart of Midlothian have agreed to sell Greek winger Alexandros Kyziridis to an unnamed Turkish club for a fee of around £1.7m, with the player travelling to finalise the move this week. BBC Sport and The Scotsman both reported the accepted bid on 9 August.
Kyziridis only arrived at Tynecastle in the summer of 2024, joining from Slovakian side Zemplin Michalovce on a three-year deal. Hearts had billed him as a "pacey, direct attacker with an eye for goal" who had finished second top of the Slovak league the season before (Hearts FC). He made his first start in maroon that July, a 4-0 pre-season win at Stirling Albion (Hearts FC), and quickly became a regular in the Edinburgh side's attack.
Playing primarily as a left winger — cutting infield onto his stronger foot, the classic inverted-winger pattern — the 25-year-old finished the campaign with six goals and 11 assists in 42 appearances (BBC Sport). One of those goals, a strike against Falkirk in a 3-0 win, earned him the William Hill SPFL Goal of the Month award for September (Hearts FC). He also set up Lawrence Shankland in a 3-1 home win over Celtic, though that effort drifted just wide (Hearts FC).
His form earned a first call-up to the Greece senior squad in May 2026 (Hearts FC). He won his maiden cap a few weeks later, coming on in the 62nd minute of a 1-0 home friendly defeat to Italy (Hearts FC). The Guardian also noted a stoppage-time intervention by Kyziridis in a match at Tannadice in August 2025, describing it as part of Hearts' broader title story that season (The Guardian).
Before flying out to Turkey to complete the transfer, Kyziridis played for Hearts against Benfica in Lisbon (BBC Sport). The identity of the buying club has not been disclosed.
For Hearts, the fee represents a tidy return on a player signed from the Slovak league just over a year ago and developed into a full international. For Kyziridis, it is a step up to one of Europe's more financially powerful leagues — and a reward for a debut season in Scottish football that brought goals, assists, and a Greece cap.
