Spider-Man: Brand New Day Hits $1.67 Billion in 12 Days, Eyeing the $2 Billion Club
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has grossed $1.67 billion at the global box office after just 12 days in theatres, making it the biggest film of 2026 and the 12th-highest-grossing release of all time, according to Variety.
The Sony Pictures tentpole — directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Sadie Sink — reached $1 billion worldwide in only six days, one of the fastest runs in box office history. Reuters reported that the debut set an all-time opening-week record, and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the biggest opening week ever at the box office.
Of that $1.67 billion total, $1.01 billion comes from international markets (the territory outside the United States and Canada) and $655 million from domestic screens. That international figure makes Brand New Day the second-fastest film to cross $1 billion overseas, trailing only 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
In its second weekend, the film added $236 million overseas and $145 million domestically — holds that keep it on a trajectory toward $2 billion worldwide, a benchmark only seven films in history have reached.
China leads all international markets with $29.1 million over the weekend and $186.7 million to date. The United Kingdom brought in $16 million over the weekend, reaching $87.4 million cumulative. Mexico contributed $15.3 million over the weekend for a $65.8 million running total.
Brand New Day overtook Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 5, which sits at $1.07 billion globally, for the year's top spot. Earlier in the run, before the overseas total crossed ten digits, its international gross of $706.3 million had already surpassed Michael's $643.7 million as the biggest foreign haul of any 2026 release to date, per Deadline.
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, still in theatres, has grossed $1.104 billion globally — surpassing The Dark Knight Rises ($1.08 billion) and The Dark Knight ($1.008 billion) to become Nolan's highest-grossing film. It is also the biggest Imax release ever, with $289 million in Imax receipts alone, overtaking Avatar's $271 million tally.
For younger audiences, Paramount's animated PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie opened to $23 million from 30 overseas markets, covering 75% of its international footprint.
What makes Brand New Day's run stand out is the pace. Crossing $1 billion globally in six days puts Sony's latest Spider-Man entry in rare company — and with $1.67 billion already banked after under two weeks, the $2 billion club is no longer a distant prospect but a question of how many weekends remain.
