Rumble, the video-sharing platform, has bought Northern Data AG, a German company that runs data centers. The deal comes with 22,000 high-end Nvidia computer chips (called GPUs) and the ability to power them with up to 250 megawatts of electricity, according to MarketWatch (published 2026-06-18 GMT).
Think of it like this: Rumble used to be a company that stored videos and streamed them to people. Now it owns a massive computer network designed to do artificial intelligence work. Those 22,000 chips are specialized processors — much more powerful than the chips in your phone or laptop — used for running AI models.
Why does this matter? Data centers need enormous amounts of electricity to run. Rumble now has contracts to use 250 megawatts of power across nine different locations. That's a lot of locked-in electricity in a world where power is hard to find. Most companies running AI systems are struggling to get enough power to run their chips. For Northern Data, this deal was a relief. The company had been struggling financially while spending heavily on data centers in a choppy market. For Rumble, buying an existing network was probably faster and cheaper than trying to order 22,000 new chips from Nvidia at today's high prices.
The hard part comes next. Rumble now has to actually run these nine data centers scattered across different countries. Keeping the power steady, cooling the equipment, connecting it all together, and keeping skilled workers in place — that's a lot of moving parts. The real test isn't the headline number of chips. It's whether Rumble can manage all this over the next year or two without stumbling.
