Meta is putting Muse, its personal AI helper, into smart glasses. The company shared the plan on September 23, as its Connect 2026 event began. The Verge

Connect runs September 23-24. Meta says the event is about new work in AI, smart glasses and expanded reality, which means digital images mixed with the real world.

You will turn it on by saying its name out loud.

At first it will do three everyday jobs. It will talk you through exercise. It will write down what you eat. It will help you buy something you are looking at.

Meta calls Muse a "secure, private personal AI agent that proactively helps people meet goals and suggests ideas" Meta. Think of it as a helper that tries to offer advice before you ask. Underneath is Muse Spark, which Meta says is its strongest AI system yet. The same system runs a smarter and faster Meta AI helper coming to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger. Meta

Meta made Meta Glasses with EssilorLuxottica, and they went on sale in the US and Canada with that Meta AI helper built in from the start. Meta Meta also made Ray-Ban Meta glasses for people who wear prescription lenses and keep glasses on all day. Meta

The broader context here is how you use it. A phone helper usually waits for you to type. Glasses listen to your voice and share some context, like a workout, a meal or an item in front of you. Your hands stay free. You do not need to stop exercising for coaching, or take a photo to ask about something you see.

In my view, the hard part will be knowing when to stay quiet. Advice that pops up all day can get annoying fast. I watched my own kids love voice controls and then drop them once the prompts felt pushy. Meta promises both privacy and helpful nudges, and getting that mix right will matter. If it does, glasses could become a simple place for help with daily goals, which over time may prove more useful than trying to replace the phone.
