Aventura and Don Omar's 'Ella y Yo' passes one billion YouTube views 20 years on

Aventura and Don Omar's "Ella y Yo" has passed one billion views on YouTube, more than 20 years after its release as a single in 2005. Billboard confirmed the milestone on 1 October 2026. The song has now entered YouTube's Billion Views Club.
The track pairs Aventura, a New York bachata group working in the guitar-led romantic style rooted in the Dominican Republic, with Don Omar, the Puerto Rican star. They released it as a joint single in 2005. It became a slow-burning hit online much later. The official video was not uploaded to YouTube until 2019.
That video was directed by Ulysses Terrero. The song itself first appeared on Aventura's fourth studio album, God's Project, released in 2004, and then on Don Omar's 2005 compilation Da Hitman Presents Reggaetón Latino. Billboard later included "Ella y Yo" among its 100 Best Songs of 2005 in a staff picks list. It had earlier described the Don Omar-assisted track alongside "La Boda" as a key cut from God's Project.
On the charts, the song peaked at No. 97 on the Billboard Hot 100, the main US singles chart. It ran stronger on Latin radio. It reached No. 2 on Hot Latin Songs, Billboard's ranking for Latin singles, and topped both Latin Rhythm Airplay and Tropical Airplay, which measure radio plays for Latin rhythmic and tropical formats. It was nominated for Hot Latin Song of the Year by Vocal Duet or Collaboration at the 2006 Latin Billboard Music Awards.
The billion-view total is a first for Aventura. For Don Omar, it is his third video to pass the mark as a lead, featured artist or collaborator. The milestone arrived in a strong week for both acts on the platform. Taylor Swift, Aventura and Don Omar led the YouTube Music Charts, according to a chart round-up BroadwayWorld reported on 30 September 2026.
What makes this stand out is the timeline. The single is two decades old. The video is only seven years old. A new audience found it long after radio moved on.
