Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Gets First PC Patch — Reduced CPU Load, Frame-Rate Fixes, and More

Arc System Works has shipped the first PC patch for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, targeting the performance problems that have dragged down the game's Steam user scores since its August 6, 2026 launch.
The official Marvel Tokon X account announced on August 10, 2026 that servers were back online and that performance improvements had been rolled out (@MARVELTokon). The patch follows weeks of acknowledgements from the development team: on July 25, the account confirmed it was "actively working on" gameplay and performance issues affecting the PC version, and on July 31 it posted that an update would include reduced lag and frame-drop fixes.
The most impactful fix targets CPU usage. The game was running the processor hard throughout start-up, and during matches it was repeatedly checking for available audio inputs — unnecessary checks that caused sudden frame drops and performance dips. The patch removes those redundant audio scans, strips out unnecessary character animation updates, and eases the demands of interface updates, all of which collectively reduce CPU load and improve overall responsiveness (GameSpot, GosuGamers).
Frame-rate problems at certain resolutions have also been addressed, along with an issue where restarting the game with specific customisation items or colours enabled would reset settings to default. Players who swapped attack-button displays to action icons — the small pictograms that show inputs on-screen instead of text labels — were finding some buttons unresponsive during open lobby mini-games; that is now fixed as well.
Beyond bug squashing, the patch makes two quality-of-life improvements. The auto graphics quality setting now selects a profile better matched to the player's hardware, and the game prompts players to "warm up" shaders — a pre-compilation step that loads visual effects ahead of play to reduce stuttering once a match begins. Arc System Works also added improved backend crash reporting so the studio can identify and patch stability problems faster.
The gap between critic and player reception has been stark. Marvel Tokon holds a review aggregate of 88 on Metacritic, but Steam user scores have landed far lower, reflecting frustration with the technical issues the patch now aims to resolve (GameSpot).
For players looking ahead, a Characters and Stage Pass 1 DLC is expected by December 31, 2026. Arc System Works has directed anyone wanting the full breakdown of fixes to the game's official Discord server.
PlayStation players have had their own hurdles: the Marvel Tokon account acknowledged login and network issues affecting some PS5 users on July 24. No separate PlayStation patch was mentioned in the August 10 announcement.
