Kith and BMW Revive Two Classic Coupés in Inka Orange for Their Fourth Collaboration

Kith, the New York streetwear and lifestyle retailer founded by Ronnie Fieg, has unveiled the fourth chapter of its partnership with BMW — and this time the centrepieces are two restored classic coupés finished in a vivid 1970s orange.
The collection, part of Kith's 15th-anniversary celebrations, spans apparel, accessories, and bespoke automobiles. The two cars are a 1972 BMW 3.0 CSi and a 1987 BMW M6 E24, both restored and repainted in Inka Orange — a colour that first appeared on the BMW 02 series in 1971 and became the defining shade of BMW's early sporting years (WWD).
Inka Orange joins a collaborative colour palette that has already featured Cinnabar Red from the M3 E30, Kith's own Vitality Green, and the rare Techno Violet across the partnership's earlier chapters.
The 1972 3.0 CSi underwent a complete frame-off restoration. Its body was stripped to bare metal, treated with KTL — a corrosion-protection coating used in automotive manufacturing — and repainted. The rebuild used original components sourced from BMW archives, including the M30 "Big Six" engine, transmission, rear axle, suspension, and brakes. Inside, the custom caramel leather interior carries an embossed Kith monogram (WWD).
BMW ended production of the 3.0 CSi's E9 chassis in 1979 and introduced the E24 6 Series — the platform on which the second car, the 1987 M6, was built. That one-of-one M6 received a full rotisserie restoration, a process where the entire body is rotated on a spindle so every surface can be accessed. Its rebuild includes the S38 inline-six engine, a Getrag five-speed manual transmission, differential, suspension, brakes, and original-equipment BBS Style 5 wheels (WWD).
Kith's own blog on its European site, eu.kith.com, states that Fieg applied the Inka Orange paint to the 3.0 CSi to bridge two generations of BMW grand tourers (Kith). The restoration process was also presented at Pebble Beach during Monterey Car Week, as documented on Kith's Instagram (Instagram).
The broader 15th-anniversary programme has been busy. Kith created its first original sneaker silhouette for New Balance — the Kith x New Balance 2011 — and released a "Linen Collection" with Nike featuring the Air Max 95 and Air Force 1 Low for summer 2026 (WWD).
For BMW, the collaboration arrives during a difficult financial stretch. BMW Group reported second-quarter pre-tax earnings of EUR 1,697 million, down 35.1 percent, with a 5.4 percent margin. First-half pre-tax earnings fell 29.4 percent to EUR 4,045 million. The Automotive segment's second-quarter EBIT margin stood at 2.3 percent (BMW Group). The company reached an agreement with its Works Council on a workforce restructuring programme, and CEO Nedeljković said BMW is preparing for growing challenges.
The Kith for BMW 2026 collection releases on 17 August at 11 a.m. EST at Kith stores, kith.com, and the Kith app (WWD).
