Kara Robinson Chamberlain, Who Escaped a Serial Killer, Hosts New True Crime Series on Freeform
A woman who escaped a serial killer at 15 now leads her own true crime series. Kara Robinson Chamberlain, abducted in 2002 and later instrumental in exposing a serial killer, hosts Somebody Knows Something, an eight-part true crime series premiering August 10 on Freeform.
The series reopens unsolved murders and missing persons cases. Chamberlain, described as a survivor, advocate and investigator, travelled across five states to cover eight cases, speaking directly with the people at the center of each one, according to a video posted on her Facebook page. The series was greenlit by Freeform, a Disney-owned network.
The two-episode premiere airs August 10 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. PT/ET. The first episode, running 9 to 10 p.m., investigates the 1997 disappearance of five-month-old Sabrina Aisenberg. The second, from 10 to 11 p.m., looks into the 2016 disappearance of teenager Lashaya Stine, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
After the two-part premiere, single episodes air weekly on Mondays at 10 p.m. PT/ET on Freeform. Episodes are then released on Hulu and Disney+ the following day, Tuesdays, on a one-day delay.
For viewers without a cable package, Freeform can be streamed live through services that carry the network, including DirecTV, Fubo, Sling and Hulu + Live TV, The Hollywood Reporter notes.
What makes Somebody Knows Something stand out is its host. Chamberlain is not a journalist who arrived at true crime through professional curiosity. She lived through an abduction at 15, escaped, and her account helped expose a serial killer. That lived experience sits behind every interview she conducts in the series, where she speaks with families and witnesses still waiting for answers.
The cases the series covers span decades and states. Sabrina Aisenberg vanished from her Florida home in 1997; no one has been charged. Lashaya Stine disappeared from Pennsylvania in 2016; her case also remains open. Each episode reopens a file that investigators could not close.
For fans of true crime, the series arrives with a host who brings the weight of her own story to every case she investigates.
