Birdie James Hoying, Born in June, Makes Her Recording Debut on Parents' New Children's Album
A baby born on 3 June via surrogate will appear as a credited recording artist before she is three months old. Birdie James Hoying, daughter of Pentatonix singer Scott Hoying and his husband Mark, makes her official debut on 'Little Birdie's Big Symphony', a 10-track children's album set for release on 20 August, according to Billboard.
Birdie's first sounds — captured on an iPhone on the day she was born — close out the opening track, 'Welcome Home', and are woven into 'Hello, My Baby Birdie!', which lists her as a featured artist. Her name appears in the credits alongside a cast of guest performers spanning folk, pop and family music.
'Little Birdie's Big Symphony' is Scott and Mark Hoying's second children's album, following their 2025 release 'M.Y. F.A.M.I.L.Y'. Scott Hoying produced the new record, with orchestration and additional production from Emmy-winning composer Dave Pierce and Grammy-nominated composer A.J. Sealy.
The track list reaches across genres and generations. Children's music duo Trout Fishing in America, whom Scott Hoying discovered when he was six, feature on 'The Flamingo Song'. Christina Perri guests on 'Landslide' — the first song Scott sang to Birdie — and also officiated and performed at the Hoyings' wedding. Kina Grannis contributes vocals to 'Lullaby (Close Your Eyes)', a song originally written by Trout Fishing in America. The closing track, 'Happy Dance', features Fyütch, Lucy Kalantari, Mega Ran and DJ Willy Wow!.
Two tracks carry personal weight beyond the guest list. 'Dad 2 U' began as Scott trying to write Birdie a letter that became a song. On 'Pretty Little Baby', Scott performs in the a cappella style associated with Pentatonix, the vocal group he co-founded, while Mark sings a verse in Tagalog celebrating their Filipino heritage.
Scott and Mark Hoying announced Birdie's birth on TikTok in July (Pink News, via People), two months after she was born. The album announcement arrived the following month.
'Little Birdie's Big Symphony' arrives on streaming platforms on 20 August.
