Camille Delamarre to Direct 'Bugatti: The Final Race' for Andrea Iervolino
Camille Delamarre will direct Bugatti: The Final Race, a sports-car drama from producer Andrea Iervolino, Deadline reported exclusively on 11 August 2026.
The film tells the story of Ettore Bugatti, the legendary race car driver and automobile designer whose name still graces some of the world's fastest machines. Iervolino wrote the English-language story himself, and he is now scripting the screenplay alongside Albert Ferrari — the first time Iervolino has taken a writing credit on one of his own films, according to Deadline.
The Andrea Iervolino American Company is producing. Deadline first reported on the project back in 2024, when Bobby Moresco — an Oscar winner for Crash — was expected to handle the script. Moresco is no longer attached as writer; Iervolino and Ferrari have taken over those duties.
The story is set in Paris in 1947. Bugatti is living out his final months in an apartment where past and present begin to blur. Ahead of him lies one last race: to win back Molsheim — the Alsatian town that was home to his factory — and reclaim the name that was taken from him.
For Iervolino, the Bugatti picture is the final lap in a series of Italian car-brand films that started with 2022's Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend, starring Frank Grillo. The run also included Michael Mann's Ferrari, with Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz, and Maserati: The Brothers, directed by Moresco. Each film tackled a different marque; Bugatti closes the circuit.
Delamarre brings an action-heavy résumé to the project. He previously directed Brick Mansions (2014), a remake of the French parkour thriller District 13; The Transporter Refueled (2015), a reboot of the action franchise; and Assassin Club (2023). His background is in stunt coordination and second-unit work before he moved into the director's chair.
The director has said the film will be shot with real machines in real locations, not relying on digital stand-ins. He has pointed specifically to the sound of a 1939 straight-eight engine — the type Bugatti himself would have built and raced — as the sensory anchor of the production. A straight-eight is an internal-combustion engine with eight cylinders arranged in a single line, prized in the pre-war era for smooth power delivery.
No cast, release date, or production start has been announced. No distributor is yet attached.
