Halo: Campaign Evolved sold 1.2 million copies across Steam, PS5 and Xbox in its first two weeks, generating an estimated US$67 million (£49.6 million) in gross revenue, according to analytics firm Alinea Eurogamer.

The game — a ground-up remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved's single-player campaign, with no multiplayer component — launched globally on 28 July 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam and PlayStation 5. Premium Edition owners who paid an extra US$20 on top of the US$50 base price got to start playing five days early, on 23 July. Around 600,000 players took that deal.

It was also a day-one release on Game Pass, Microsoft's subscription service, where it drew roughly 2.1 million players across PC and console. That figure includes subscribers who tried the game without buying it outright.

The platform split is nearly even between Xbox and PlayStation. Xbox led with 42 percent of sales, including the Xbox app on PC. PlayStation followed at 41 percent. Steam accounted for the remaining 17 percent Eurogamer.

This is the first Halo title ever released on a PlayStation platform. The PS5 version was announced on the official PlayStation Blog in October 2025 PlayStation Blog, a notable moment for a franchise long associated with Microsoft's hardware. Earlier Alinea estimates put PlayStation 5 sales at 351,000 copies in July alone, rising to 452,000 to date and generating nearly US$28 million on that platform Pure Xbox. Steam sold through an estimated 212,000 copies.

For all those numbers, the remake faced stiff competition from another franchise making its way to new platforms. Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2, recently ported to PlayStation, reportedly brought in US$435 million (£322.2 million) combined — outselling Halo: Campaign Evolved 16-to-1 Eurogamer.

What gives that gap context is the difference in scope. The Black Ops ports bundled two full games with their multiplayer modes intact. Halo: Campaign Evolved is a single-player-only remake priced at US$50/£50, and Alinea analyst Rhys Elliott suggested that price point may have been too high — especially compared to the Master Chief Collection, a larger Halo compilation that sells for US$40/£40 Eurogamer.

Halo: Campaign Evolved supports online co-op for up to four players and two-player split-screen co-op on console. It also runs through Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox Play Anywhere, Microsoft's cross-buy programme between Xbox consoles and PC.
