Bull / Fight Brings Lorca's Final Days to Summerhall at the Edinburgh Fringe
A play about the last weeks of the Spanish poet and playwright Federico García Lorca is running at Summerhall throughout the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, performed by a cast of six in a highly physical style.
Bull / Fight recounts the final days and reflections of Lorca before his death in 1936 at the hands of Spain's fascist forces. The production is staged in Summerhall's Former Women's Locker Room, one of the venue's more intimate and atmospheric spaces, and runs from 6 to 31 August 2026 (WhatsOnStage).
Lorca — poet, dramatist and author of works including Blood Wedding and The House of Bernarda Alba — was executed by Nationalist forces during the Spanish Civil War. His remains have never been formally recovered. The play takes that shadow as its subject, exploring the writer's final reflections before his killing under the regime.
The production is a co-production between Mythography Collective and Macrobert Arts Centre, the latter a Stirling-based venue that is a regular presence in Scotland's touring and co-producing ecology. The piece was among the final 30 shows announced by Summerhall Arts for its 2026 Fringe programme back in May (Broadway World).
Movement is central to the staging. Tsoi Huen Wong serves as movement associate on the production, which is performed by six actors working in a highly physical register.
