Lucy Davis, best known as Dawn Tinsley on the original UK edition of The Office, has revealed she is living with an incurable form of Stage 4 breast cancer. Davis shared the news in an Instagram post on 12 August 2026, accompanied by a video in which she spoke directly to her followers (ABC News).
Davis said she was diagnosed a year and a half ago. The cancer had metastasised — spread from its original site — to her bones, specifically her spine, right hip, and ribs. She wrote that the disease is incurable and that it is too late for chemotherapy (Variety.
Despite the prognosis, Davis was direct about how she is coping. She said she is not scared and is at peace with what comes next. She also urged her followers to "get everything checked out" (Instagram).
Davis added that she still wants to keep working and continue her animal rights advocacy. The message drew an immediate wave of public support from fellow actors and industry figures. Jenna Fischer, who played the American counterpart to Davis's character — Pam Beesly on NBC's remake of The Office — commented: "Beautiful post. Love you lots. And yes to working with cancer!"
