Saracens hand new deal to rising centre Angus Hall
Saracens have handed a new contract to 20-year-old centre Angus Hall, the club confirmed on 12 August.
Hall came through Saracens' academy and is regarded as one of the most promising midfield prospects in the English game. A graduate of the Judd School in Tonbridge, he represented England at Under-18 level for two seasons and went on to earn Under-19 recognition before touring with England's Under-20 side to Georgia in 2024 England Rugby. He also featured for England's 'A' side — the tier just below the senior national team — against Spain and an All Blacks XV last November BBC Sport.
Last season Hall made three appearances in the Premiership, the top flight of English club rugby, along with one outing in the European Champions Cup and three in the Premiership Rugby Cup. He also spent time on loan at Ampthill in the Championship, the second tier of English club rugby, to sharpen his competitive experience BBC Sport.
The club have not disclosed the length of the new deal. What is clear is where Hall sits in Saracens' thinking under their newly-appointed director of rugby, Brendan Venter. The South African, returning to a role he previously held during the club's rise in the late 2000s, was effusive in his assessment.
"Angus is exactly the type of player we want to build this club around," Venter said BBC Sport.
For Saracens fans, the message is straightforward. Venter's appointment signalled a desire to reconnect with the academy-driven identity that powered the club to multiple Premiership titles, and committing a 20-year-old with England 'A' honours to a fresh contract fits that template precisely. Hall's senior exposure remains limited — seven club appearances in total last term — but the trajectory is steep, and the international recognition at age-grade and 'A' level suggests England's selectors are tracking him closely.
With the new Premiership season approaching, Hall will be looking to turn promise into regular starts and push his case for a full senior England cap.
