Wayne Rooney will co-host a new weekly Manchester United show alongside influencer Mark Goldbridge, launching 18 August on The United Stand's platforms (The United Stand, TikTok).

The show, titled Stick to United with Wayne Rooney, pairs United's all-time top scorer with one of the club's loudest online voices. Goldbridge — real name Brent di Cesare — has built a following of more than 3.8 million across his two YouTube channels, The United Stand and That's Football, on the back of passionate, stream-of-consciousness match reactions that have become part of the modern fan experience (BBC Sport).

Rooney is already a regular pundit on Stick to Football, The Overlap's flagship panel show. The new programme widens that relationship into a dedicated United format — a weekly deep dive on one club, week in and week out.

Behind the pairing sits a significant shift in football media ownership. Former United captain Gary Neville acquired Goldbridge's two channels in April for an undisclosed seven-figure sum, bringing them into his Overlap network — a media business he founded in 2021 that has since expanded beyond football into cricket and rugby (BBC Sport). Neville co-chairs The Overlap, and the acquisition folds what was arguably the biggest independent fan-channel operation in English football into a broader media brand.

The new show also has a major streaming partner. Disney+ will distribute 50 episodes of Stick to United and 40 episodes of Stick to Football this season, as part of a distribution deal that places fan-driven football content on one of the world's largest entertainment platforms (BBC Sport).

Rooney's media footprint keeps growing. The Wayne Rooney Show returns to BBC platforms this season, and he will continue his punditry role on Match of the Day. The former England captain has transitioned from one of the most volatile playing careers in English football into a steady presence across the sport's broadcasting landscape (BBC Sport).

For United supporters, the appeal is straightforward. Goldbridge's channels have long served as a digital pub — a place where fans vent, celebrate and argue in real time after every match. Adding a voice with 13 years' worth of memories inside Old Trafford's dressing room gives those conversations a different kind of weight. Whether that combination of raw fandom and insider experience finds a rhythm remains a question for 18 August, when the first episode airs.

What is clear is the scale of the operation behind it. A former player-turned-broadcaster, a fan-channel phenomenon, an ex-captain turned media entrepreneur, and one of the world's biggest streaming services are now working together around a single football club's weekly story.
