David Letterman is coming back for another round of long-form conversations. Netflix has confirmed that My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman will return for Season 7 later in 2026, with Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Jimmy Kimmel and climber Alex Honnold lined up as guests (Variety).
The guest mix spans Hollywood A-listers and a figure from the sports and adventure world. Damon and Roberts need little introduction themselves, each carrying decades of film work between them. Kimmel, the late-night host on ABC, sits on the other side of the desk this time. Honnold, best known for his free solo ascent of El Capitan in Yosemite, brings a different kind of star power — the kind earned on a 900-metre rock wall with no rope.
Season 7 has been in the pipeline for over a year. Netflix originally renewed the show for both Season 6 and Season 7 back in June 2025 (Variety). The double renewal meant two batches of episodes were ordered at once, an unusual vote of confidence from the platform.
The series has built a steady track record. Across six seasons and four specials, 31 episodes have aired since the show launched in 2018. It has picked up eight Emmy nominations across its run, winning one in 2024. Season 6 is currently nominated for an Emmy for outstanding hosted nonfiction series or special (Variety).
Jax Media, Imagine Entertainment and Worldwide Pants — Letterman's own production company — produce the series. The same team has been behind the show throughout its Netflix tenure.
For fans of the format, the appeal is simple: Letterman gets an hour or more with each guest, no studio audience roundtable, no rapid-fire segment wheel.
