Gayle Rankin Leads 'Ashley Wright' Alongside Ed Harris, Amy Madigan and Their Daughter Lily — a Family First on Screen
Gayle Rankin has wrapped a lead role in the indie film Ashley Wright, directed by Logan and Noah Miller, Deadline reported on 13 August 2026. The film shot recently in Los Angeles and brings together a cast that includes Ed Harris, Amy Madigan, Steven Ogg, Michole Briana White, Lily Harris and Evelyn Grace Kite alongside Rankin.
Rankin, most recently seen as the healer Alys on House of the Dragon and known for GLOW, The Greatest Showman and The Meyerowitz Stories, plays a homeless mother of two children scraping out a sense of dignity in a world working against her. The character sits close to the bone for the Miller brothers: they have said she is a synthesis of their father's twenty years of homelessness and their mother's struggle with mental illness. Logan and Noah Miller previously worked with Harris on the indies Touching Home and Sweetwater; their other writing credits include White Boy Rick and G20.
The supporting cast carries its own narrative weight. Amy Madigan — an Oscar winner for Zach Cregger's Weapons, with upcoming work including Ryan Coogler's X-Files reboot, the Apple thriller Sponsor and Netflix's All the Sinners Bleed — plays Donna Terry, Ashley's court-appointed attorney, fighting for her to keep custody of her children. Ed Harris, recently seen in Paramount+'s Dutton Ranch and Apple TV's The Dink opposite Jake Johnson, plays Judge Allen, a sympathetic figure presiding over Ashley's custody hearing. Steven Ogg, Michole Brianna White and young Evelyn Grace Kite — who plays Ashley's nine-year-old daughter, Peanut — round out the ensemble.
What gives the project an unusual twist is the Harris family connection. Ed Harris and Amy Madigan are married in real life; Lily Harris is their daughter. Ashley Wright marks the first time all three have appeared together in a feature film, with Lily playing Peanut's court-appointed attorney, Jessica Steiner.
Behind the camera, the producers are Yolanda Bishop Martin, Katie Hausman, Kennedy Martin and Jackson Beall. Executive producers are David and Lucie Brown and JC Krause. No distributor or release date has been announced, so the film's path to screens remains an open question.
