The throwback image shows Drake as his character Jimmy Brooks at Degrassi Community School, hanging out with Ashley Kerwin — a character who adopted a goth look on the show. The post ties back to a running thread for the Toronto artist, who told Bobbi Althoff's podcast in 2025 that his destiny was to "end up with a goth baddie with absolute O-cups," according to Billboard.
The caption landed days after Drake took part in a 20-vs-1 speed-dating game on August 8, 2026, as part of Stake's ninth anniversary livestream. He crowned streamer Pinkchyu — a self-described "goth baddie" whose real name is Lin Lamar — as the winner and his "wife," Billboard reported. The most viral clip from that stream showed Pinkchyu having Drake bark like a dog on command.
After winning the speed-dating game, Pinkchyu asked Drake to buy her mother a new house. He agreed. Lamar then posted footage of her mother in visible shock after being told the news, Billboard reported.
Drake played Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation, which aired on Canada's CTV network from 2001 to 2009, before his music career took over.
