Nicole Kidman Opens Up About Both Marriages — and Life After — in British Vogue

Nicole Kidman has spoken openly about her divorces from Tom Cruise and Keith Urban in a new British Vogue interview, telling the magazine she reached a point after her second split where she was "very fearful and deeply vulnerable."
The interview, published on 13 August 2026 and titled "Nicole Kidman Is Keeping Her Heart Open," was written by Giles Hattersley for Vogue.co.uk. Kidman, 59, is the September 2026 cover star (British Vogue).
Kidman married Cruise in 1990, when she was 23 and he was 28. The marriage lasted about a decade, ending in divorce in 2001. She told Vogue that people warned her being Cruise's wife would overshadow her career. Her response, as she recalled it: "Of course I'll throw my career away. I don't care" (The Guardian, 14 August 2026).
In 2006, she married the musician Keith Urban. That marriage ended when Kidman filed for divorce in Nashville in September 2025, citing marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences. The separation was finalised out of court by January (The Guardian, 14 August 2026).
After the Urban divorce, Kidman described a stretch in which she felt "very fearful and deeply vulnerable." Looking ahead, she said the future is "completely unknown to me right now" (Yahoo Entertainment, 13 August 2026). She framed the uncertainty as something she is sitting with rather than resolving.
The interview carried a lighter admission, too. Kidman revealed that she sometimes goes out dancing in disguise — wearing glasses or a dark wig — surrounded by people who have no idea who she is (The Guardian, 14 August 2026).
For an actress who has spent nearly four decades on screen, the Vogue profile reads less like a victory lap and more like a candid stock-taking. Two marriages, two divorces, and a willingness to say plainly that she does not know what comes next.
