Nipsey Hussle's First Posthumous Album 'Prolific' Arrives
Nipsey Hussle's first posthumous album, Prolific, a collaborative project with Bino Rideaux, was released globally on Friday, 14 August 2026. The 15-track album was made available for pre-order ahead of release, with The Marathon — the late rapper's label and brand — announcing the project in February 2026 for a summer drop.
What gives the album its weight is its origin. Prolific was recorded in 2017 across three straight months at NoName Studios in Tarzana, Los Angeles, before the pair's joint project No Pressure from that same year, according to Billboard. The album was originally titled Single for the Summer. Its cover art, captured at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, was approved by Hussle himself before his death in March 2019.
NoName Studios carries its own layers of music history. At the time of recording, the space was leased to Ye — formerly Kanye West — and served as a hub for his G.O.O.D. Music label. A decade earlier, in the 1990s, the same building was home to Death Row Records, where Dr. Dre and 2Pac worked on records that defined an era of West Coast hip-hop.
The album's credits place it firmly in the West Coast production tradition. Mike & Keys, MYGUYMARS, AXL Folie and Rance 1500 handled production, while MixedByAli and NOIS handled mixing. The guest list spans Cardi B, Ty Dolla $ign, Leon Thomas, Static Major, James Fauntleroy, Buddy and BH, according to the tracklist posted on Instagram and HotNewHipHop.
The single "Sacrifices," featuring James Fauntleroy, was released in June 2026 as the second single from the album. A pre-order announcement on the Nipsey Hussle Facebook page in June confirmed the 14 August date.
Blacc Sam — born Samiel Asghedom, Hussle's older brother and business partner — has overseen the late rapper's estate and catalogue. Prolific is the first full-length posthumous release under that stewardship. Hussle was shot and killed outside his Marathon Clothing store in South Los Angeles on 31 March 2019.
For listeners, the album fills in a gap — a completed project from a period of sustained creative output that Hussle never got to see released. The recordings predate No Pressure, meaning the material on Prolific sits among the earliest documented collaborations between Hussle and Rideaux, a Los Angeles rapper and songwriter who has since built his own following. The release turns archival sessions into a finished record, arriving more than seven years after they were made.
