Nipsey Hussle's 'LA Theme Song' lands in Snowfall spin-off
A Nipsey Hussle recording titled 'LA Theme Song' will feature in the 15 September episode of FX's 'The Drop: A Snowfall Saga'.
The track will go to streaming services at 3 p.m. ET, Eastern Time in the United States, on the same day, according to Billboard. The verse has waited years.
'The Drop: A Snowfall Saga' is a spin-off, a new series taken from an earlier show. It started on 8 September, three years after the original 'Snowfall' ended.
The soundtrack is overseen by Rance Dopson, co-founder of the music company 1500 or Nothin', who serves as executive producer. That role means he leads the music direction across the series. Jason Martin, formerly known as Problem, and Glasses Malone are also involved in the soundtrack work.
'LA Theme Song' has an unusual history. Hussle's verse was first cut for 'Dedication', a track from his 2018 album 'Victory Lap'. It was later removed to make room for a Kendrick Lamar feature.
The release follows another posthumous project. Hussle and Bino Rideaux's joint album 'PROLIFIC' arrived in August.
For fans, this means two separate releases in quick succession. The colour of the rollout is Los Angeles, the city both the show and the artists call home.
There is more unheard material connected to the series. The second episode of 'Behind the Beat' will include a never-before-heard vocal track from Hussle linked to 'The Drop: A Snowfall Saga', according to Yahoo.
