Lioness Season 3 Pulls 7.1 Million Viewers in Three Days, Cementing Paramount+'s scripted streak

The Season 3 premiere of Lioness drew 7.1 million viewers in its first three days of streaming on Paramount+, according to internal data reported by Variety. The episode, titled "The Spider," aired on 2 August and significantly outperformed the audience that the show's second season reached with its 2024 debut.
For context on the scale: Paramount+ recently saw Dutton Ranch hit 12.9 million views in seven days in May, and The Madison reach 8 million views in ten days in March, per the same Variety report. Lioness now sits comfortably in that company.
The numbers extend beyond Paramount's own platform. According to preliminary Nielsen data, Lioness Season 2 was the second-most-watched streaming original series in the U.S. during the week of 2–8 August — a window that overlaps with the Season 3 launch and suggests renewed interest flowing backward through earlier episodes. On social media, per Social Content Ratings, Lioness Season 2 was the No. 1 buzziest streaming drama between 2 and 4 August, generating 6.9 million views across social platforms.
In Europe, where Lioness streams on SkyShowtime, Season 3 outperformed both previous seasons and is on track to rank among the top five returning premieres ever on the service. The show's reach now spans two continents and two separate streaming platforms.
Lioness stars Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman as CIA officers running a covert programme that sends female operatives into dangerous field operations. The Season 3 cast also includes Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hebert, Jonah Wharton, Hannah Love Lanier, Thad Luckinbill, and Ian Bohen.
Taylor Sheridan — the writer-producer behind the Yellowstone universe — executive produces alongside David C. Glasser, Saldana, Kidman, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski, and Keith Cox. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.
What makes the premiere's performance stand out is the layered picture it gives of how audiences find a show in 2026. A new season launches, and within the same week the previous season climbs the Nielsen streaming chart, floods social media, and breaks records on a second platform across an ocean. One premiere pulls every season of the show into view at once.
The premiere figure of 7.1 million in three days is an internal number from Paramount — meaning it reflects the platform's own measurement of hours viewed and unique accounts, not third-party verified data. Preliminary Nielsen figures are also subject to later revision. Both metrics point in the same direction, but the final Nielsen numbers for the launch week have not yet been published.
