Lioness closed its third season with its biggest audience yet.

The finale drew 9.7 million viewers in its first seven days of availability, making it the most-watched episode in the series’ history. It also ranks as the No. 5 most-watched finale of all time among Paramount+ originals, according to figures reported by Variety.

The season was organised as an eight-episode run from Aug. 2 to Sept. 20. It opened with “The Spider and the Fly” and closed with “The Unraveling,” according to Paramount+. The premiere had drawn 7.1 million viewers in its first seven days of streaming, based on Paramount internal data shared by Skydance.

Growth built week to week. Season 3 averaged 8.5 million viewers per week, up 62% on the weekly average for Season 2 in 2024. Every week brought in more viewers than the week before it.

Independent measurement told a similar story. The series sat in the Nielsen and Luminate top 10 charts for eight weeks in a row. During finale week, it passed one billion minutes viewed for the first time, per Nielsen.

Across the full eight-week run, Season 3 totalled 3.9 billion minutes watched. That cumulative total was up 62% from Season 2.

Lioness was created by Taylor Sheridan. It is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.

What makes this stand out is the steadiness of the climb. Many streaming series open big and then fade. Here the audience grew from a 7.1 million start to a 9.7 million finish, with no dip along the way. For fans, this means the finale was not just an ending. It was the moment the most people were watching.
