Taylor Swift Breaks All-Time Adult Pop Airplay Record with 'I Knew It, I Knew You'

Taylor Swift has surpassed Maroon 5 for the most No. 1s in the history of Billboard's Adult Pop Airplay chart, notching her 16th leader with 'I Knew It, I Knew You.' The song jumped three spots to No. 1 on the Aug. 22-dated chart, according to Billboard.
The Adult Pop Airplay chart, which debuted in March 1996, measures weekly plays on nearly 80 U.S. adult top 40 radio stations, tabulated by Mediabase and provided to Billboard by Luminate. Maroon 5 had held the all-time record with 15 No. 1s on the chart. P!nk sits third with 10, followed by Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran, each with eight.
'I Knew It, I Knew You' is Swift's song from Toy Story 5, written for the film's cowgirl heroine Jessie. On June 1, Swift told Instagram that writing it felt like 'a musical departure and coming home at the same time,' and that creating something for Jessie was both a new challenge and second nature. The track was also just the third Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 to come from an animated Disney movie, and the first from Pixar specifically. It launched at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in June as Swift's 15th chart-topper there.
The song has moved across multiple Billboard radio formats since release. It debuted at No. 8 on the Country Airplay chart, No. 9 on Adult Contemporary, and inside the top 20 on both Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay in its first week, per Billboard. By early July it had climbed to No. 9 on the Pop Airplay chart, becoming her 29th top 10 on that tally, Billboard reported.
Beyond the U.S., 'I Knew It, I Knew You' debuted at No. 1 on Australia's ARIA Singles Chart, giving Swift her 14th ARIA No. 1 and drawing level with Elvis Presley for the second-most in that chart's history, according to Billboard.
Swift's 16 Adult Pop Airplay No. 1s span more than a decade, beginning with 'I Knew You Were Trouble' in 2013 and running through 'Shake It Off,' 'Blank Space,' 'Style,' 'Bad Blood,' 'Wildest Dreams,' 'Delicate,' 'Willow,' 'Anti-Hero,' 'Karma,' 'Cruel Summer,' 'Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version),' 'Fortnight' featuring Post Malone, 'The Fate of Ophelia,' 'Opalite,' and now 'I Knew It, I Knew You.'
All Billboard charts dated Aug. 22 will update on Billboard.com on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
