Netflix Picks Up Brat TV's 'Sunshine Girls' for December 2026 Premiere
Netflix has acquired the young-adult coming-of-age series Sunshine Girls from Brat TV, with a premiere window set for December 2026 (Deadline).
The series is set in Valley Hills, a fictional California suburb, and follows a new girl navigating life at Valley High. Alma Marian stars as Olivia, Isabella Fowler as Taylor, and Erin Rose Park as Riley. Rob Fishman and Nuria Anson created the series and serve as executive producers. Elisabeth Rogge, Mary Lambert and Gavin Laing wrote the scripts, with Allex Tarr directing.
Brat TV is a digital studio and a division of ZATV, built on teen-focused online series such as Chicken Girls and Zoe Valentine. The studio counts more than 5.5 million YouTube subscribers — a built-in audience that knows its style and tone. A move to Netflix puts Sunshine Girls in front of a global streaming audience far beyond that YouTube base.
Netflix also used the moment to unveil Sid & Zoey, a supernatural series and gothic romance from creator Jon Kasdan, with John Shiban attached and production partners Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Bad Robot (Deadline).
Both announcements land against a larger corporate backdrop. Netflix agreed in December 2025 to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, a deal that drew fierce criticism when it was announced on 5 December 2025 (France 24; Reuters). That acquisition remains the defining corporate story around the streamer, but the new title pickups signal that commissioning and acquisition of individual series continues alongside it.
For viewers, Sunshine Girls brings a familiar Brat TV formula — teen drama built around friendship and identity — to a platform with a far wider reach. Whether Netflix's audience responds to that formula the way Brat's YouTube subscribers have is a question the December premiere will begin to answer.
