Sterling Point Becomes Prime Video's Most-Watched Show Worldwide Since Its August 5 Debut
Amazon has reported that Sterling Point, a young-adult drama from the production company LuckyChap, is the most-watched show on Prime Video worldwide since its 5 August debut, when all eight episodes of the first season were released at once (Variety, 14 August 2026).
The series was created by Megan Park, who began her career as a teen actress on The Secret Life of the American Teenager before moving behind the camera. Park also wrote and directed the feature film My Old Ass, which LuckyChap produced.
Sterling Point centres on 17-year-old Annie Jacobson, played by Ella Rubin, who was raised in New York City with her twin brother (Keen Ruffalo) by their adoptive father (Jay Duplass). Jeffrey Dean Morgan was also cast in the series, which Variety first reported was in development at Prime Video before the official order was announced.
The story sends Annie to Muskoka, Canada, after she inherits her grandfather's island. There she meets Ramona, played by Amélie Hoeferle, a girl who resembles Annie's late mother and claims the same grandfather. Variety described the series as following a young woman who goes to her late mother's hometown to discover secrets she never anticipated (Variety, 5 August 2026).
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the duo behind Gossip Girl and The O.C., served as co-showrunners — the writers and producers who run a series day to day. The executive producer roster includes Dani Gorin, who leads the TV division at LuckyChap, the company behind Promising Young Woman, I, Tonya, Wuthering Heights and the $1.4 billion-grossing Barbie.
LuckyChap has been in the television business since 2019, starting with the Hulu comedy Dollface and later producing Netflix's Maid. The company's television slate is growing: it has a second series with Maid creator Molly Smith Metzler, Sirens, already in the books, and a third, titled Retrievals, on the way.
Beyond Sterling Point, LuckyChap is opening a writers' room in London for an adaptation of the video game Life is Strange — a writers' room being where a show's stories are broken and scripts are developed before filming begins. The company is also working on the pilot script for Sex Criminals, another comics-based project.
What makes the Sterling Point performance notable is the company it puts LuckyChap in. A production house best known to cinema audiences for an Oscar-winning film about a doll now has the top title on one of the world's largest streaming platforms. Variety's TV critic Aramide Tinubu reviewed the series positively, calling it "wholly unique and wistfully authentic" to the young-adult genre — though that is one critic's view, not a measurement.
Amazon's own viewership claim covers the period since 5 August and applies to Prime Video worldwide. No specific hours-viewed or completion-rate figures were released alongside the ranking.
