Pixar Reveals First Look at 'Incredibles 3': The Parr Kids Steal the Night
Pixar has unveiled the first concept art for Incredibles 3, along with plot details that hand the spotlight to the Parr children, at the D23 fan event in Anaheim on August 15, 2026. Disney film chief Alan Bergman presented the reveal during the Disney Entertainment Showcase, giving fans their earliest glimpse of a film still nearly two years from release — it opens June 16, 2028.
The story picks up after the ending of Incredibles 2, where superheroes regained their legal status. This time, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack take the leading roles, sneaking out at night to protect the city while keeping their secret from their parents. Writer Brad Bird confirmed there will be no time jump, keeping the Parr kids at their original ages.
Behind the camera, a significant change: Peter Sohn directs Incredibles 3, taking over from Brad Bird, who wrote and directed the first two films. Bird remains on as screenwriter. Sohn previously directed Pixar's Elemental (2023) and The Good Dinosaur (2015) before being named to the role in June 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Bird is also set to direct his own project, Ray Gunn, scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.
The returning voice cast was confirmed at D23: Craig T. Nelson as Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible, Holly Hunter as Helen Parr/Elastigirl, Sarah Vowell as Violet, Samuel L. Jackson as Lucius Best/Frozone, and Huck Milner as Dash. The kids carry the action this time, but the full family ensemble remains intact.
The road to this reveal has been steady rather than sudden. Disney first announced Incredibles 3 at D23 in August 2024. Pixar's official Facebook page posted the June 16, 2028 date in April 2026 while noting it was not yet officially confirmed by Disney. The date was then confirmed at Disney's annual shareholders meeting in March 2026, according to Disney's corporate newsroom. Now, with first-look art and a plot premise in hand, the project has moved from a date on a calendar to something fans can picture. The film will also be featured in the Mundo Pixar pavilion on the D23 show floor, per Disney's event coverage.
Incredibles 2, released in 2018, held the title of Pixar's highest-grossing film until Inside Out 2 surpassed it in 2024. The Incredibles franchise has grossed over $1.8 billion worldwide across two films, according to Variety.
For fans, the appeal is straightforward: the Parr kids were always the emotional heart of the story, and now they get to drive it. A summer 2028 corridor gives Pixar a proven family-friendly window — the same mid-June slot that Incredibles 2 used to open to $182 million domestically in 2018. The puzzle pieces are all on the table; the film now has to earn them.
