Disney Unveils First Look at Live-Action 'Lilo & Stitch' Sequel, Bringing Angel to the Screen

Disney has teased the first look at its live-action Lilo & Stitch sequel, revealing a fan-favourite pink alien named Angel, at the D23 fan event in Anaheim on Friday night. Variety

Maia Kealoha, who plays Lilo, came onstage to introduce the sequel. Chris Sanders, who voices Stitch and co-directed the original 2002 animated film, is returning to direct.

The first-look image shows Angel with glowing antennae. She is Experiment 624 — Stitch's love interest — and her siren song can turn reformed experiments back to evil, a trait established in Lilo & Stitch: The Series, the animated show that ran on the Disney Channel in the mid-2000s.

Disney's release calendar gives the sequel a date of May 28, 2028.

The company first announced the sequel on June 26, 2026 — the date 6/26 a deliberate nod to Stitch's government designation, Experiment 626. That announcement came roughly a month after the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake opened in theatres. The remake went on to earn more than $1 billion at the global box office.

For fans, the addition of Angel pulls one of the most requested characters from the animated series into the live-action continuity. Her siren-song ability — a power that reverses the rehabilitation of other experiments — gives the sequel a clear antagonist dynamic without straying from established lore.

Disney's D23 presentation continues through the weekend in Anaheim.
