Marvel Drops Second 'Avengers: Doomsday' Trailer at D23, Assembling Its Widest MCU Cast Yet
Marvel Studios unveiled the second 'Avengers: Doomsday' trailer on Friday, 15 August 2026, during Disney's D23 fan convention in Anaheim, running 14–16 August. The film arrives in theatres on 18 December, with tickets already on sale, according to the official trailer posted on Marvel's YouTube channel Variety.
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell took the D23 stage to introduce the footage. Downey Jr. plays Doctor Doom — a casting that brings him back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his original character, Iron Man, died in 2019's 'Avengers: Endgame'. Evans returns as Steve Rogers, whose Captain America last appeared travelling back in time at the close of the same film. Atwell reprises Peggy Carter Variety.

What the footage shows is a collision of nearly every Marvel faction currently in play. Vanessa Kirby's Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, warns the assembled heroes about Doctor Doom's threat. Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards, Mister Fantastic, confronts Doom amid rubble. Chris Hemsworth's Thor threatens the villain outright — and Doom answers by blasting him with a beam of green energy before raising a collection of Sentinels, the giant mutant-hunting robots long associated with the X-Men comics Variety.
The cast list reads like a Marvel all-hands roster. Alongside Downey Jr., Evans, Hemsworth and the Fantastic Four — Pascal, Kirby, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing — the film brings back Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Simu Liu as Shang-Chi. Then there are the X-Men. 'Doomsday' marks the official MCU debut of several actors who played Marvel mutants in Fox's now-ended film series: Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Bringing the former Fox X-Men cast into the same frame as the Avengers and the Fantastic Four is a logistical feat Marvel has been building toward since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019 Variety.
The first teaser, released on 23 December 2025, had already revealed Evans' return as Steve Rogers, according to Marvel's own newsroom Marvel.com. This second trailer expands on that reveal — adding Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom front and centre, the Fantastic Four in the fray, and the Sentinels as a looming threat.
For fans, the appeal is straightforward: characters who lived in separate film universes for two decades now share a single one. Whether 'Doomsday' delivers on that premise is a question for 18 December.
