Jodie Foster Joins Disney's 'Hexed' as a Villainous Witch, with Walton Goggins as Her Three-Eyed Cat Sidekick

Jodie Foster has never voiced a character in a Disney animated film. That changes with Hexed, Walt Disney Animation's forthcoming feature, announced at the D23 fan event in August 2026. Foster will play Queen Celeste, the film's main villain — a witch Deadline.

Joining her is Walton Goggins, cast as Beef Roger: a three-eyed green cat in a pink coat who serves as a witch's sidekick. The character befriends the young protagonist voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, a teenager discovering that her peculiarities may be magical powers tied to a hidden realm Deadline.

The story follows an awkward teen and her Type-A mother as they learn that the girl's oddities are signs of witchcraft, which opens a door into a concealed magical world. Steinfeld leads the cast; Foster's Queen Celeste stands as the antagonist at the other end of that journey.

Hexed is directed by a trio — Jason Hand, Josie Trinidad, and Fawn Veerasunthorn. The voice ensemble already listed Steinfeld, Alan Tudyk, Rashida Jones, Stephen Fry, CeeLo Green, and Tracey Ullman before Foster and Goggins were added to the call sheet.

Disney has slotted the film for Wednesday, 25 November, its Thanksgiving opening corridor — a release window the studio has owned for decades. (Thanksgiving, the late-November American holiday, is one of the most lucrative box-office stretches of the year; families are off school and work, and a Wednesday opening gives a film a five-day head start.)

What makes this stand out is the casting against type. Foster, a two-time Academy Award winner best known for live-action dramatic roles, steps into a Disney villain part — her first animated work for the studio. Goggins, likewise, has built his career in live-action television and film. Beef Roger, a green cat in a pink coat with a third eye, gives him room to work in a register far from his usual territory.

For audiences, the takeaway is straightforward: a new Disney animated original with a recognisable cast, a Thanksgiving release date, and a premise built around a teenager coming into magical powers. The film arrives in cinemas 25 November 2026.
