Academy Award winner Kris Bowers will compose the original score for Hexed, Walt Disney Animation Studios' new animated feature, according to Variety.

The score, the music written specially for the film, is one of the final creative pieces to lock in ahead of release. The news was reported on 19 October 2026.

Hexed will open in theatres on 25 November 2026, as confirmed by Disney. It is a feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios, the company said in a separate announcement on Disney.

The story follows an unconventional teenage girl who finds she has secret magical powers. Her discovery pulls her into a hidden realm of witches, Variety reports. Disney calls it a magical coming-of-age saga and a mother-daughter adventure.

The voice cast is led by Hailee Steinfeld, Rashida Jones, Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins. The film is directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand and produced by Roy Conli and Yvett Merino.

Bowers arrives with a busy slate in animation and beyond. He wrote the music for Steps, Netflix's animated film, and scored The Eyes of Ghana for Breakwater Studios. He also scored Mr. Irrelevant: The John Tuggle Story, the Paramount/Skydance sports drama due on 25 December.

For audiences, this means another key name is now attached before November. Music often carries the emotional thread in animation, from first discovery to final reunion, and Hexed will lean on that mix of adventure and family.
