Courtney Love has told fans that her next album is complete, addressing the long-awaited record in an Instagram video in which she also revealed she nearly died after relocating from Los Angeles to London in 2019.

Love said she was stepping back from social media for a few weeks but would return. In the same video, she spoke about an illness that followed her move to London, saying without specifying a diagnosis that her body "exploded" and that she was frequently hospitalised. Billboard reported her comments on 15 August 2026.

The health scare has been an ongoing issue. Love was hospitalised in August 2020 suffering from severe anaemia, and revealed in March 2021 that she had "nearly died" the previous year from the condition, according to Metro. Anaemia is a shortage of red blood cells or haemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen through the body, leaving the heart and other organs under strain.

On the music, Love was direct. She described the finished album as "a really good record" and said she put a lot into it. No release date, label or title has been confirmed.

The album would be Love's first solo full-length in two decades — her last was 2004's America's Sweetheart. She has not released a record under the Hole banner since 2010's Nobody's Daughter, which she reflected on in the video, calling its commercial performance "spectacularly humbling." That album peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200, the US album chart, and fell off within weeks.

For fans who have followed Love since Hole's 1990s run — the band behind Live Through This and Celebrity Skin, both of which charted in the US and UK — the confirmation of a finished record closes a long wait. Love has spoken about new music in interviews for years without settling on a timeline. Her wording this week was the most concrete signal yet that the album exists in completed form.

Love gave no indication of when she plans to share more about the record, telling fans only that she would be back after her break from social media.
