Cynthia Erivo Joins Ariana Grande on Stage in London for a Wicked Reunion

Cynthia Erivo walked on stage at London's O2 Arena on 16 August to join Ariana Grande for a surprise two-song set during the encore of Grande's Eternal Sunshine Tour show.

The pair performed "For Good," the duet from the musical Wicked, followed by a medley of "Get Happy" and "Happy Days Are Here Again" (Rolling Stone). The performance was a reunion of the two leads from the 2024 Wicked film — Grande plays Glinda, Erivo plays Elphaba — ahead of the sequel, Wicked: For Good, which takes its title from the same song (Rolling Stone).

Grande is in the final stretch of her Eternal Sunshine Tour, which closes with ten dates at the O2. The last show is scheduled for 1 September (Rolling Stone).

The London appearance comes against a shift Grande has flagged publicly. She told fans on stage in Chicago that her plan to step back from public-facing work after the tour was "not a reactive or impulsive thing" but a decision she had quietly made long ago (Rolling Stone). As part of that step back, Grande will no longer appear in a London West End revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park With George (Rolling Stone).

For fans, the O2 duet offered an early taste of the Wicked: For Good era before the film arrives. Both Grande and Erivo reprise their roles in the sequel, and hearing them perform the title song live gave the arena crowd a preview of that pairing in concert rather than on screen.

The encore collaboration also landed in a week when Grande's tour schedule and her post-tour plans have drawn equal attention. The ten-night O2 residency runs through the start of September, and after that, Grande has said she intends to pull back from public-facing work — leaving the tour, and nights like this one, as the closing chapter of a cycle she planned well in advance.
