DramaBox Doubles Down on Latin America with Brazilian Vertical Series and Three Colombian Originals
DramaBox has put into production a Brazilian vertical series with production company Cimarrón, starring Duda Reis, while rolling out three Colombian originals across August — the latest move in the microdrama platform's push across Latin America. Deadline
Vertical microdramas are short-form, phone-first series shot in a vertical format — designed to be watched in quick bursts on a smartphone. DramaBox's app has been downloaded more than 460 million times since its launch in 2023, according to Deadline.
The Brazilian series began filming in São Paulo with a Q4 release window slated. It follows a woman who marries a stranger, not knowing he is the billionaire who destroyed her past. Duda Reis leads the cast; her credits include TV Globo telenovelas Vai na Fé, Vale Tudo and Coração Acelerado. She is joined by Flávio Leming, known for Record's series Reis and Se Eu Fosse Você 3.
Cimarrón is producing through Diego Robino and Lourenço Sant'Anna. Robino produced Netflix's The Two Popes, which received three Academy Award nominations in 2020. Sant'Anna is known for I'm Still Here, the Brazilian feature that won the Oscar for Best International Feature in 2025. Cimarrón's broader credits include Star+'s Impuros, Amazon Prime Video's September Mornings and Dom, and Society of the Snow, a Netflix co-production nominated for an Academy Award in 2024. The company produced 17 titles across Latin America in 2025.
This is not DramaBox's first Brazilian original. The platform recently released its first Brazilian title, has another scheduled to launch later in August, and has two more in post-production, Deadline reports.
On the Colombian front, DramaBox has three originals rolling out this month. Mi Barco del Amor Zarpó Sin Ti dropped on August 4, starring Mattias Vega, Laura Cano, Johanna Fadul and Jose Luis Uribe Ochoa. It follows a woman trapped in a loveless marriage who discovers her husband still loves his ex-girlfriend, files for divorce and revives her career as a fashion designer.
Besando al Hermano Equivocado went live on August 17, starring Eros Castillo, Karol Saavedra, Alejandra Tejada and Miguel Ángel Ramos. It sees a woman ending up romantically involved with the wrong brother after an unexpected mix-up. Soy la Novia de mi Peor Enemigo premieres on August 27, following a young woman who makes a one-night mistake with her childhood nemesis and then teams up with him to annoy their exes.
The three Colombian titles were developed with Willy Barragán's Dos Ke Tres Films. DramaBox had previously launched its first Colombian original, Su Amor Fue una Mentira, from Albereda Films and directed by Felipe Paredes. Marcela Kartaszewicz serves as Head of Comms at DramaBox.
The slate forms part of a broader plan reported by produ.com in June: DramaBox aims to produce more than 20 locally adapted vertical microdramas across Mexico, Colombia and Brazil in 2026, with five productions currently in development in Brazil alone. produ.com
