Queen Rania Shares First Photos of Twin Granddaughters Talia and Rania
Queen Rania of Jordan has shared the first family photographs of her newborn twin granddaughters, Talia and Rania, on her official Instagram account @queenrania. The images, credited to Getty Images, show the twins with Queen Rania and King Abdullah, and arrive three days after the Royal Hashemite Court announced their birth on 14 August 2026. Hello! Magazine
The twins are the daughters of Princess Iman bint Abdullah II, 29, and her husband Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, a venture capitalist. The couple married in 2023 and already have a daughter, Amina. Iman and Jameel revealed the names of their twin daughters over the weekend following the birth. One of the twins is named Rania, a tribute to her grandmother the Queen.
Queen Rania captioned the Instagram post: "Healthy, happy, and finally here. We've been waiting so long to meet you, Talia and Rania." She also congratulated Iman, Jameel, and their elder daughter Amina in the same post.
The pregnancy was announced just over five weeks earlier, on 9 July 2026, when Queen Rania shared a photograph of Princess Iman with her husband and Amina on Instagram, captioned: "A new joy on the way." The Royal Hashemite Court, the administrative body of the Jordanian monarchy, made the formal announcement of the twins' arrival the same day.
Talia and Rania are the third and fourth grandchildren of Queen Rania and King Abdullah. The couple's eldest son, Crown Prince Hussein, and his wife Princess Rajwa welcomed their own daughter, baby Iman, in 2024. Princess Iman is the second child and elder daughter of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. She married Jameel Alexander Thermiotis in a ceremony at Beit Al Urden, the palace in Amman, in July 2023. Their first daughter, Amina, was born in 2024.
What gives the naming its weight is the family tradition it sits within. Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa named their own daughter Iman in 2024, after the Crown Prince's sister. Now Princess Iman has named one of her twins after her mother. The Hashemite royal family's naming customs have, in the space of two years, drawn a thread linking grandmother, daughter and granddaughter across three generations of women.
